This wedding was so much fun, for me in particular, because Kate was one of my dearest friends from our grammar school days at Sacred Heart in Troy and junior high at Catholic High. After 8th grade we went our separate ways…Kate off to live and go to school at Emma Willard and me to Troy High and over the years we have run into each other only occasionally around town.  So to have the honor of capturing her big day for her and her new husband Bill was such a pleasure.  Kate had the second gorgeous day of the weekend and the outdoor ceremony was breathtaking.  She was such a beautiful bride and with the help of DJ Chris Wright of Discovery DJs the oversized dance floor at Crooked Lake was jam packed all night long.

And a little shout out to the staff at Crooked Lake for suggesting this gorgeous spot.  This is one of this images just begging for a canvas.

Congrats Kate & Bill and thank you for allowing us to photograph your wedding day!

Kerri & Steve may have had the BEST wedding weather of the entire season for their wedding at Glen Sanders Mansion. Its always a pleasure to work with Jill and the entire Glen Sanders staff and we were happy to work with LaRose Media on videography for the second week in a row.  They are a fantastic team and so much fun to work with. Flowers by Pesha was responsible for the beautiful flowers and the most insane candy bar I have ever seen. And Kerri put together some AMAZING details I can not wait to share soon : )  She was such a beautiful happy and fun bride and Steve was pretty awesome too! In the meantime, Kerri & Steve have a fantastic time in Italy.  We absolutely loved spending your wedding day with you!

We LOVE shooting seniors.  Its so much fun and such an important age to document.  Parents always remember to capture those early years but being a senior in high school is one of the most pivotal times in a person’s life and yet it often left to a cheesy yearbook photo and some hazy digital pictures. It is a huge honor to capture the feeling of excitement for the future and nostalgia for the past for the families we are lucky enough to work with.  Alicia’s Mom totally got that and contacted us saying she would love a session that reflected Alicia and this important time in her life so off to Washington Park we went on an absolutely frigid day…seriously FRIGID and windy and we had the most fun ever.  Alicia is gorgeous and sweet and never complained once.  We absolutely loved every second of our time with her.  So all you Moms and Dads out there don’t forget your high schoolers.  They will be leaving the nest soon and these images will mean more that yearbook photo!

We were so excited when actress Shannon Rafferty asked us if we would shoot some images to update her portfolio.  We usually spend the beginning of every session just making people comfortable and used to the camera but with Shannon we got to skip right to the fun part!  Of course she was a natural and so much fun to work with.  And where else would we go but Troy?  We sometimes wonder if we should stop photographing so many different things and just stick to weddings or kids or babies but it’s sessions like these that remind us how fortunate Pat and I are to be able to shoot so many amazing people in so many different situations.  It keeps us fresh and inspired and smiling…which is just how we like it : )

Fall, for most people, means apple picking, leaf raking and pumpkin carving but for Pat and I fall means working absurdly long hours but getting to see some of our absolute favorite families who we have the honor of photographing every year.  The Gibsons certainly fall into that category.  Its amazing to think we photographed Jack & Annie when there were only two and then Joey when he was just born.  These little blondies make us smile every time we see them!  Their Mom trusts us completely to capture the images she wants to document her family year after year and their Dad is pretty cool too.  He just so happens to be in one of my absolute favorite bands…The Gibson Brothers!  And congrats to them for winning not one but two awards this year at the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards in Nashville including Song of the Year.  Yay!  See you next year Gibsons!

Since Annie is the only girl we thought we would give her a little extra blog love!
